Middle East Adventures | Wherever you go in the Middle East you’ll sense the presence of the many ancient civilisations which have populated this mystical land. The lure of the Great Pyramid, Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple makes this high on most people’s wish list of places to visit. However, Jordan’s infamous ‘lost’ city of Petra is equally mind-blowing while a desert stay in a Bedouin camp will provide lasting memories. For a desert experience with a difference, try less-visited Oman – its immense rolling sand dunes are certainly a sight to behold! |

 | | | Egypt | In the 5th century BC Herodotus wrote of Egypt that 'nowhere are there so many marvellous things...nor in the world besides are to be seen so many things of unspeakable greatness' - and not too much has changed. The Sphinx, the Nile, ancient Luxor, the pyramids - Egypt's scope is glorious.
It's not just the Pharaonic monuments that have drawn travellers to this country since long before the birth of Christ - it's the legacy of the Greeks, Romans and early Christians, and the profusion of art and architecture accumulated from centuries of successive Islamic dynasties. |

| | | | | | Jordan | Bible stories, lost cities, Lawrence of Arabia - Jordan has romantic associations up to its eyeballs. It's a country that ought to be awash with tourists, but the Middle East's bad reputation has kept them away in droves. Don't be fooled: Jordan is, on the whole, peaceful.
More than that, it's one of the most welcoming, hospitable countries in the world. Where else could you leave your belongings on the street for hours at a time, and find them there when you get back? Where else do total strangers with nothing to sell invite you into their homes? |
