Moghul Cities & Taj Mahal You’ll begin by exploring the vestiges of the former Moghul Empire in Old Delhi. Next, discover the Palace of the Winds, the ‘pink city’ of Jaipur and the mysterious, deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri. The anticipation builds as you journey to the Taj Mahal in Agra – arguably the most perfectly proportioned building in the world. Hill Stations & Holy River You will then head into the Himalayan foothills, where the old hill station of Naini Tal still retains a colonial atmosphere from the days of the Raj. Next, relax beside the rushing waters of a Himalayan river before exploring Corbett National Park in search of tiger! Your journey winds down by the Ganges at Rishikesh – renowned for its yoga and white water rafting both optional. Corbett National Park Corbett National Park was the first to be established in India and remains one of the finest. You stay in a comfortable lodge and travel by jeep seeking out the area’s prolific wildlife. You’ll see many bird species, chital, hog deer, monkey and with a little luck spot leopard, wild elephant and tiger! Responsible Travel The local agent in India supplies us with both our group leader and driver, whilst his office has a small staff that work solely on our behalf. We use small, family run hotels and as with most of our trips, eat in local restaurants. This ensures many people in the region through which we travel benefit from our visit. The school at Betal Ghat has reaped the rewards of our visits, with donations being given by many travellers. Our entrance fee to Corbett National Park goes towards conservation of this valuable wildlife habitat. We have developed a programme of school visits during which you have the chance to meet the children, provide assistance optional and learn more about the basic education system. |
