Day 1 - To Les Andelys
We depart St Pancras International by Eurostar for Paris. Relax in your comfortable Standard Premier Class seat before our arrival in the French capital. On arrival in Paris we leave the train and travel by coach to Les Andelys, at the foot of chalky white cliffs and overlooked by Château Gaillard. A welcoming glass of champagne awaits us when we board Anacoluthe. The pace of your holiday is set by you alone, you may wish to take part in our included group shore excursions, explore independently, or simply relax and admire the views from the sun deck as we meander along the river and savour the French cuisine and complimentary wines served on board. Day 1 - To Les Andelys |
Day 2 - Les Andelys to Mantes
We have an early morning cruise to Vernon, gateway to Normandy, where we leave the ship for a short coach journey to Giverny. Here we enjoy a visit to Monet's house and garden and discover the famous water lily ponds and Japanese Bridge which appeared in so many of his paintings. We return to the ship for lunch, then spend the afternoon on board cruising the Seine. Later in the day we arrive at our mooring for the night in Mantes. (B,L,D)

Day 2 - Les Andelys to Mantes |
Day 3 - Mantes to Conflans Ste Honorine and Chatou
This morning, we have a guided walking tour of historic Mantes and its old town. Mantes is home to the magnificent Notre Dame church, which resembles the church of the same name in Paris. This afternoon, Anacoluthe cruises on to Conflans St Honorine at the confluence of the Seine and Oise rivers. Considered to be the capital of France's inland waterways, Conflans St Honorine is home to a large barging community and the Navigation Museum, which we visit this afternoon. Back on board, we cruise to Chatou on the 'Ile des Impressionistes', with its elegant mansions and interesting architecture. We moor here overnight opposite the Maison Fournaise, once the meeting place of the Impressionists, now a restaurant featuring a number of their great works - perhaps take the opportunity to see these paintings over an after dinner drink. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - Mantes to Conflans Ste Honorine and Chatou |
Day 4 - Cruise to Paris
After a short walking tour of Chatou, we set sail and cruise upstream towards Paris. During the cruise we pass through the Suresnes lack and dam, which controls the water levels in the River Seine. We reach Paris in the afternoon and moor up close to the Eiffel Tower. Our central location gives you the opportunity to spend a few hours in the beautiful French capital. After dinner this evening we enjoy a memorable cruise at dusk through the illuminated French capital. (B,L,D)
|
Day 4 - Cruise to Paris |
Day 5 - Sèvres
Today we cruise to Sèvres, where you have the choice of visiting the Sèvres porcelain factory or the museum. The manufacture of this famous French porcelain dates back to 1740 and a visit to the factory allows us to see the production techniques and workshops, as well as examples of its earliest designs. The museum displays ceramic art from Roman times right up to works by contemporary world-renowned designers. On our return to the ship we continue towards Melun, where we moor for the night. (B,L,D)
|
Day 5 - Sèvres |
Day 6 - Château de Vaux le Vicomte and St Mammes
After breakfast we visit the nearby Château de Vaux le Vicomte, a lavish 17th century Baroque palace with elegant gardens created for Nicolas Fouquet, Louis XIV's financial advisor. Fouquet drew the jealous attention of the king, who arrested him and confiscated the Château and its contents. We continue our cruise towards St Mammes, a small town in the upper reaches of the Seine. In the evening we enjoy a farewell gala dinner to mark our final night on board our ship. (B,L,D)
|
Day 6 - Château de Vaux le Vicomte and St Mammes |
Day 7 - By train to London
After breakfast we disembark Anacoluthe in St Mammes and join a coach for the drive to central Paris and the start of our journey home. At Gare du Nord we board the Eurostar service back to St Pancras International. (B,E)
